I felt like I was on a space ship in the year 3000 as I watched Hussein Chalayan's Fall 2009 RTW collection floating down the runway. The avant-garde designer hit the nail on the head with his futuristic collection this season. The Turkey born Chalayan named his collection "Earthbound" which referred to the way he viewed London's urban streets. You can see his inspiration with the fence prints on a couple dresses, funnel neck tops, and a mostly monochrome palate of concrete gray, black, and white. Chalayan seemed to focus on structured geometric shapes to relate his futuristic street idea. Chalayan has also followed the latest throwback trend of incorporating thigh-high boots. He makes his more personal by adding bondage garters to them.
Hussein Chalayan's collections are always a show to be watched but it seems like this one is a little lacking in exhibition. What happened to the parade of naked ladies wearing hijab, disappaearing dresses, and coffee tables that transformed into wooden dresses?:
