I am always excited when designers use inspiration from their own (and other) cultures to guide their collection. Yigal Azrouel definitely showed that inspiration in his Resort 2010 collection. The Israeli born designer of French-Moroccan decent, dazzled spectators with his signature draping techniques. He also reworked the traditional caftan into something more relatable on the runway by cutting it short and pairing it with a skirt. He showed his versatility by pairing his softer draped outfits with harder more modern pieces. The color scheme was mostly gray and black but Azrouel added a splash of yellow and red to liven things up. All his models also donned traditional Uzbek style turbans which added to the Eastern vibe of the collection. Azrouel is definitely on the rise with this collection as the spearhead.
