Comme des Garçons Looks Good in Black

Comme des Garçons has found their answer to the recession: Cheaper clothes! The Japanese fashion label headed by Rei Kawakubo recently introduced its temporary recession-friendly 'guerilla' brand titled 'Black Comme des Garçons' by setting up shop in two department stores in Tokyo. The clothes featured in this brand are roughly HALF the price of the company's other collections, a relief to money conscious fashionistas.

Comme des Garçons is definitely not a neophyte when it comes to these temporary guerilla stores. It has opened 31 such stores since 2004. In an effort to boost dropping sales due to the recession, a decision was made to open Black and what a good idea it was as sales in Japan are 50% ahead of plan.

Kawakubo plans to open stores in New York and Paris by June 22nd. There is also plans for a two week pop-up in Barneys New York and Colette in Paris. Kawakubo plans to add menswear after requests from many stores, so men, do not fret.
